Oak Haven RV Park - Fort Odgen, FL

February 28th - Friday - Cooler 72 degrees

We arrived here on Monday afternoon and were greeted by our next door neighbors, Gary and Cheryl.  Gary helped us back into our spot and told us they were having “Happy Hour” at their home at 4:00 pm and wanted us to come and meet our neighbors and we agreed to attend.

We quickly got set up and I put  together a cracker spread with cream cheese and a pepper jelly that Lou’s granddaughter had given us, in fact this is a special treat that Stephanie fixed for all of us.  I took along some fresh cracker that we had just purchased and put all of this on a new plate that I had purchased for just such a purpose, that is decorated with an ocean scene and sea gulls.  It was a hit and disappeared quickly.  The “happy hour” lasted for two and half hours and was a delightful time for everyone that attended.  We came away wishing we were going to be here longer than a week.

Wednesday we drove into Fort Myers and spent the day with Lou’s friend Doris Swenson and her sister Joyce.  She has lived in her upstairs condo for 37 years and had decided it was time to get rid of some “stuff” so was planning on a yard sale on Saturday, so it was wall to wall boxes.  We opted to go out for  a late lunch, and then back to her home for a visit, the afternoon passed so quickly and before we knew it we found ourselves driving home in the dark.

Yesterday, we took advantage of the sunny weather and quickly did up my work inside and took my book outside on the patio and read in the sunshine.  It clouded up around 2:00, so I came in and decided to bake a chicken and make stuffing for dinner.  I also made a fresh strawberry shortcake for dessert and we had fresh broccoli to go along with our chicken.  It all tasted so good.  While our chicken was baking, we took an hour walk.  We have been trying to get a walk in every day.

After dinner last evening, we found a television station that carried John Wayne movies and we were hooked, finally at 2:00 am, we went to bed, what a pleasure it was to watch them.  I watched one that I had never seen before.  Who Shot Liberty Valance.  It was really good and I enjoyed it.

Today while it rained, we watched the musical, Paint Your Wagon, great.  I got the RV cleaned up, then we walked over to the clubhouse for a hour long jam session, great music.  I am continually amazed at the talent of these folks in the different RV parks.  After dinner we needed milk, so had to drive to Walmart to pick that up, and just happened to drive past an Applebees so stopped for dinner, we have eaten a lot of seafood and chicken, we both ordered steak and Susie I had artichokes and they were delicious.  I had Lou taste it and he liked it also!!  They were served over a Portobello  mushroom.

Tomorrow we are off to Sarasota to go through Mote Aquarium and another museum and then out to dinner with Scott and Sue and will spend the rest of the weekend with them.

The internet here is terrible, even though I have paid for the service here it is very bad!
