Church Service at St. Peter's Church Hackett's Cove, Nova Scotia

August 11th - Sunday - Another beautiful Day 70's

We were up early and to church at 9:00 AM.  I guess we are getting used to the change in the time, so it was actually 8:00 AM to us folks.  This is an Anglican church and I spent my teen and early twenty and thirties in a Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, so this was like going home again and I thoroughly enjoyed the church service.  It was communion today and we were served "common cup" which was new to Preston and Lou, but was what I had been used to.  The only thing that was different, was I used to singing the portion of the service that dealt with the communion service.

The sermon delivered by The Rev. Marilyn Newport  was wonderful.  It was taken  from Luke 12:49-56.  She brought out several worthwhile things to remember and I will share them with you.  She spoke about the art of listening.  Asking all of us to listen with our ears of our heart, as that is where our passion is located and that way we can get involved with the person that is speaking and therefore, we honestly listen with our heart.  Second point - If we want to walk on water, we have to step out of the boat and step in faith.... Aren't both of these points so true.

After church, we went back to the Finer Diner for breakfast and this time I had Eggs Benedict, but asked if I could have only one poached egg and have smoked salmon in place of the ham, and was it ever good.  Then we were back home to change our clothes and off to the Maritime Museum in Halifax.  As we were on our way to the car, we stopped to say "hello" to our neighbors and told them where we were going and he said wait a minute and he came back with a note to get us free admission to the Museum.  He and his wife both work there, what a nice treat for all of us.

We spent the entire afternoon there seeing the sights and I will just post pictures with a description and hope that they will post correctly today.
