August 3rd - Saturday - Getting Acquainted with Glouster, MA
We all slept in this morning after two hard days of traveling and while I got the RV cleaned up the men went to the office to pay for our stay here at Famcamp at Hanscom Air Force Base and to see what would be the best sights to see while we are here.
We decided to drive to Gloucester for the afternoon and have dinner there tonight. We did the walking tour of the harbor, watched the huge ships come in and out and the draw bridges go up and down.
We went to Fitz Henry Lane House and took in the view from his house and what a view, several of the pictures are from there.
It was suggested that we eat dinner at The Causeway Restaurant because we wanted to have fresh seafood and my gosh did we ever have seafood. Lou had a Lobster Cassserole, I had Fried Sole, and Preston had Tuna Tips, all of it was delicious, people were standing in line to get in at 4:00 and still were standing at 8:00 when we were leaving to come home. It didn’t look like much, but the food was out of this world and they had anything you could think of.
At the harbor, there is the statue, that many of you remember from the movies, that depicts the fisherman that have been lost at sea and they are listed by years starting back in the 1700’s to the present time. I was surprised to find many men with the name of Goodwin and I just had to take pictures of all of them.
Tomorrow we are off to church in the morning and then to Boston to see some of the sights.
