Strawberries - Plant City

April 6th - Tuesday - Low 65 degrees - Sunshine and bright blue skies

Yesterday we got up and round early and headed for Tampa, Plant City and Brandon. We wanted to go to Camping World for a few things and we were still on our quest for fresh fruits and veggies.

As we left Tampa we came past the working street cars, which I found to be rather interesting. They have two types the open and closed coach.

We arrived at Camping World and walked all around inside. Found a light to replace the one we had over our kitchen sink, water tester and a couple odds and ends. For those of you that are familiar with the facility, it is a great place to go; however, very expensive and we use them as a last resort. Of course, we had to go past Lazy Days and ohhed and ahhed over the new RV's but we are still happy with ours. We have several ideas of things we want to add before we come back next winter, and DH promised to built me a clothes line that attaches to the back ladder.

After leaving there we drove on up to Plant City, home of the Strawberry of Florida. We stopped at Parkesdale Farm Market, which is the home of the World's Biggest and Best Strawberry Shortcake. Lou had the shortcake and I enjoyed a strawberry milkshake. This is family owned strawberry and citrus market that has been in business since 1968. We enjoyed eating our selections in their tropical foliage greenhouse.

We then drove a little closer to Brandon and stopped at a roadside market and purchased tomatoes, green beans and ruby red grapefruit. I had avoided purchasing grapefruit, even though they are one of my favorite fruits, as Lou is taking Zocor and not supposed to indulge in grapefruit. We have been enjoying Papaya each morning with our breakfast. In fact, we get four fruits with our breakfast. It is the rest of the meal where we get into trouble.

When we arrived home, we found it had gotten pretty warm, so we closed up the house and turned on the A/C unit and tackled the light project. Having to complete several of these types of projects, I know how hard they are to do them by yourself, as does Lou so we used "team effort" and accomplished the task at hand. I now can wash dishes with a light. I have used the little twinkle lights on the shelf above the sink to illuminate the sink all winter, so this was a great blessing.

While we enjoyed NCIS last evening, I worked on my recycled wool project, appliquéing legs and faces on my sheep. I may get this accomplished before we arrive home.

This morning, I have the laundry finished and some of it on the clothes line. Lou tackled the radio that is outside on the deck, actually on the outside wall of the RV, he did some trouble shooting and has finally found a fuse located behind the radio and has slipped the unit out and has gone for a replacement fuse.

We are planning on going to Seascapes for lunch today. They are having Taco Salads as their special. Will be a great afternoon to sit on the beach and enjoy the sunshine. The A/C unit just kicked on so, guess it is warming up all over.

Had a phone call late last evening from Kris and sounds like Michelle has FINALLY found a prom dress. Guess we should have had Lou pray about it sooner. He laughed last night when I told him, and said that is what I like an immediate response to prayer. This has been an on going problem for a couple of months. Michelle will get good use of the dress, as she is going to three proms this year. One of her friends that she met at Model UN is from the Hershey area, and she will attend his which is a week after hers. Great to be young, however, Lou and I have agreed we wouldn't want to return to our youth. Can enjoy the kids as they solve their problems one at a time. It keeps making our prayer list a little longer, but good to see God is working on all items brought to him.
