Leesburg, FL

April 12th - Monday Sunny

We left MacDill Air Force Base by 9:00 am and had a safe enjoyable trip to Leesburg, FL. The trip was about 140 miles north.

We visited with a good friend of Lou’s. Jean Fry, her deceased husband and Lou were in the service together and their families were raised together. We had a wonderful time catching up on old stories and hearing about the different activities of the families of today.

She fixed us a wonderful lunch which we all enjoyed together. She was very receptive of Estee, as she also has a small dog, Amber, which is an apricot colored Poodle, unfortunately, she is blind and suffers from diabetes. The two dogs got along well together and Amber was even willing to share her snacks with Estee.

Jean is a collector of perfumes, so she and I had a wonderful afternoon of going through her collection old and new. There were cupboards full of fragrances that I have never heard of. She asked me to pick out a fragrance that I liked and I chose Marilyn Miglin 112, which is a delightful perfume.

After Amber’s insulin injection at 7:00 pm we went out to eat at a local buffet and we all ate too much and poor Lou suffered all night for his over indulgences.

For breakfast, we went into the back yard to the most marvelous smelling blooms of the grapefruit and orange trees and picked a grapefruit for munching. They were the ruby red grapefruit and I had forgotten how wonderful they are right off the tree.
Jean’s son and wife, Butch and Kathy came down to visit with us for a few minutes before Butch had to leave for an orthopedist appointment.

We soon picked up our things and said our thank yous to Jean and hugged goodbye with a promise next year to stay longer with her.
