Second Day to Tour Boston

August 5th - Monday - Second Day to Tour Boston

We were up and ready for our second day of touring Boston, feeling pretty smug with our day of prep yesterday.  We arrived at the parking garage without a hitch; however, found the garage full, we hadn’t counted on that.  Lou decided he would brave the traffic and drive downtown and find a place to park, so off we went, after a couple of tries to get where we wanted to get we called On Star and told them where we wanted to go and that was much simpler.

We arrived at the USS Constitution and toured the Museum , as we had toured the ship “Old Ironsides” yesterday, we found that very interesting and could have spent hours in there, but knew we didn’t have a lot of time to spend there.

Lou wanted to have a Lobster Roll for lunch and one of our guides had told us that the best ones in all of Boston were at James Hook Company which was located near the harbor, so we walked to that area that was located near Park Royal Hotel.  What a business that fellow does, he had all sized lobsters in tanks and people were coming in and buying them by five or ten at a time.  We did indeed have the lobster roll.  They were $14.00 a piece, simply lobster meat with mayo on a homemade toasted six inch white roll, good, but I added relish and salt to mine.

After a late lunch, we walked the wharf a bit admiring the sailing ships and hopped back on the trolley and back to the garage where our car was parked and drove back home in 5:00 traffic.  Lou did a good job getting us to where we had decided to have our dinner.

Tonight we enjoyed eating at Marguerita’s and we did enjoy a lovely Mexican dinner and lots of ice cold drinks to go along with our pleasantly warm meal.

Our dinner last night after a day of touring Boston was at Fish Bones, which was a bit more upscale and was a delightful place to eat and a  perfect place to end a long day of sight seeing in Boston on Sunday.  We rode the subway which was a new experience for all of us, in modern time, and it was a trick for us to figure out how to get a ticket.  Once we got a young college student to walk us through the process, it was a breeze.  Getting on and off at the right place was not a problem and we rather enjoyed it and thought it would  be all set for today, did not count on the parking garage being full!!

We have certainly enjoyed our stay in Boston and tomorrow we are off to Freeport, Maine home of LL Bean, need I say more.  Doing laundry and taking showers tonight ready for travel in the AM after commuter traffic
